Pitlochry gap-site earmarked for new homes
January 28 2019
The Perthshire town of Pitlochry has been earmarked for a scheme of five flats designed by Oliver + Robb Architects on vacant ground off Bonnethill Road.
Located on a gap site in the town centre conservation area the development takes ‘inspiration’ from the adjacent to the C-listed Bank House, using reconstituted stone, white dry dash render and natural slate.
In a statement, the architects wrote: “The flatted development will improve an existing plot of vacant land which is a current eyesore in order to deliver much-needed housing in the area. The proposals will also take inspiration from the surrounding built forms and local material palette to provide a building which is in keeping with the existing context.”
The site was previously earmarked for four flats in a development which has now been withdrawn.
