Glasgow’s office march continues as Osborne+Co snap up Metropolitan Tower
January 15 2019
Osborne+Co have appointed Cooper Cromar Architects to convert Glasgow’s B-listed Metropolitan Tower into ‘defurbished’ office space following their purchase of the prominent former college buildings.
Latterly earmarked for a £100m hotel and student residential scheme the site will now be subject to extensive refurbishment to accommodate grade A office space alongside serviced apartments on Cathedral Street.
The same team are also delivering a 283,000sq/ft new build office block on Argyle Street, valued at £93m.
Will Hean, development director, Osborne+Co, commented: “This acquisition will allow us to capitalise on Glasgow’s current supply demand imbalance, with the market currently characterised by a dearth of flexible Grade A office space and significant pent-up occupier demand. We are very excited by this opportunity and look forward to refurbishing such an iconic building within central Glasgow and continuing Osborne’s investment into the city.”
A proposal of application notice has already been filed for the change of use.
