‘Signature’ block to address Yoker/Renfrew Ferry
January 15 2019
Norr Architects have come forward with plans to develop a 40 home riverfront apartment block in Yoker, Glasgow, extending a wave of development around the Renfrew Yoker Ferry.
Comprising a single block above undercroft parking the scheme adjoins what has been described as the tallest timber structure in Scotland, elevating the lowest level of flats to 8.5m above sea level to mitigate flood risks.
In a design statement Norr wrote: “The development consists of one flatted block over six storeys, creating a “signature” block addressing the River Clyde and Yoker/ Renfrew Ferry terminal.
“The scheme will comprise a concrete podium up to amenity / ground floor level, then a Metframe construction clad in good quality facing brick and contrasting smooth cladding panels.”
Particular emphasis is placed on the river facing elevation with projecting balconies maximising views south down the River Clyde with the elevation to the north broken by a recessed common stair.
Private amenity space for residents will be provided to the east and south with Juliet balconies provided for all living rooms.

In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines
So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found a sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
