West coast of a different kind inspires So L.A Glasgow diner

Mosaic Architecture + Design has dished up its latest interior design for restaurant group Rusk & Rusk with a £1m commission at Glasgow’s Mitchell Street.

So L.A. offers diners a themed interior inspired by Los Angeles, drawing inspiration from classic American mid-century diners with an abundance of curved booths complemented by an industrial aesthetic driven by the use of concrete, aged wood, leather and blackened steel - complete with rivets and bolts.

A basement level below the restaurant provides an event and function space dubbed ‘The White Box’, which seeks to impart the feel of a modern art gallery or warehouse.

Interior fittings such as joinery, glazed screens lights and door handles were designed in collaboration with co-founders James and Louise Rusk.

So L.A. follows Mosaic's previous work at Hutcheson’s City Grill, The 158 Club Lounge and The Spanish Butcher
