Norr head Aberdeen terrace transformation

Langstane Housing Association acting in collaboration with Norr Architects have notified Aberdeen City Council of their intent to carve five flats for social rent out of a vacant hostel at 17 Granton Place.

Part of a traditional granite terrace dating from before the turn of the 20th century the proposal will see removal of a non-original brick extension to allow construction of a larger extension over ground and first floors.

Explaining their intent behind the extension Norr wrote: “It will be clad in a single ply membrane with standing seam profile in grey to complement the slate roof of the main building. The design of the rear extension has been considered to provide a simple, modern aesthetic and maximizing potential amenity space for the residents.”

Elsewhere alterations will be kept to a minimum with like-for-like replacement of windows and doors as necessary although dormers will be connected up to create more useable space on the second floor.
