East Renfrewshire Council set out nursery expansion plans
October 9 2018
East Renfrewshire Council has pledged to significantly expand nursery provision across the authority area to meet enhanced childcare obligations with a £23m plan to build five new centres.
New and replacement nurseries are proposed for Overlee Park; Crookfur Pavilion; Glenwood Family Centre; Busby and Eaglesham to meet this demand for spaces.
Exsiting pavilions at Crookfur and Overlee Park will be improved as part of the planned work to offer improved community sports facilities, benefiting from the introduction of new changing rooms and enhanced play spaces.
Councillor Paul O’Kane, convener for education and equalities, commented: “The sites of the proposed new family centres were carefully chosen as we aim to provide green and natural environments for our children so they have the best opportunities for quality exploration and learning experiences indoors and out. By offering parents various options of how to utilise their free childcare allocations, the facilities will provide more flexibility and choice which I’m sure will be welcomed by all.”
Three of the planned facilities will operate as family centres offering childcare for 50 weeks each year and could be operational by August 2020.

Does East Renfrewshire get unusually heavy rain for Scotland?
My main concern is the small child who is mid take-off with those balloons...
Under 5 provision is important -- something to celebrate not hide.

Low profile design vibe does not do it any favours -- the public sector really needs to get off its knees and start showing off.
A couple of hours rain and the place will flood.
