Courtyard bungalows pay homage to former Aberfeldy laundry

Aim Design have authored plans for a mixed-use development in Aberfeldy which seeks to bring a combination of residential and light industrial uses on the site of a disused laundry off Home Street.
In all it is proposed to create 15 homes alongside five light industrial units, reinstating the urban edge and remaining in scale with its surroundings, prompting the realisation of courtyard bungalows with peaked chimney points in an homage to the former laundry.
Outlining their design objectives Aim wrote: “Of key importance is the retention of the urban edge on Home Street. The elevations of the proposed courtyard bungalow buildings pay homage to the Fisher’s Laundry peaked roof finials, identifying these former features with the two peaked chimney points, reflecting the historical elevation.”
Western areas of the site meanwhile will play host to a mix od semi-detached, detached and flatted properties with a section to the rear retained for light industrial use with a strip of landscaping serving as a buffer between the two.
