Springfield Properties head east with 237 home Dalmarnock development
September 5 2018
Dalmarnock further finds itself as the unlikely setting for a residential boom with the submission of plans for 237 affordable homes by Springfield Properties – just days after the launch of a separate 562-home vision.
Springfield’s plan is outlined in a detailed planning application to the City of Glasgow Council for a 2.3-hectare site adjacent to the newly revitalized Dalmarnock Station.
Springfield Properties group partnership managing director, Tom Leggeat, commented: “The submission of this planning application represents a significant step forward in delivering much-needed affordable housing in the east end of Glasgow which is undergoing significant regeneration.
“Each home will also be highly energy efficient which will keep running costs low for the residents. The development is a stones throw from a local train station and along key bus routes so is ideally located to travel into the centre of Glasgow.”
A mix of two and three-bedroom apartments will be provided in a series of five and six storey apartment blocks surrounded by open communal spaces. An on-site shop will also be included with the aim of creating an ‘urban hub’ for the east end.
