New Deli bakes up a south side treat
July 30 2008
The Tapa Bakehouse and Deli within the thriving east end district of Dennistoun has proven such a hit with locals that the owners have branched out into the cities south side.Robert Winters and Virginia Webb launched the coffee house venture on the site of a former Kurdish restaurant at 721 Pollokshaws Road, which has lain empty for a number of years. The couple, originally hailing from New Zealand, aim to capitalise on their famed bakery to entice families from the nearby Queens Park area.
The east end deli has enjoyed spectacular growth since opening in 2000, introducing fresh organic produce to an area better known for its fish and chips. The enterprise now supplies businesses across the city.
