NHS Highland dust off Aviemore hospital vision
August 9 2018
NHS Highland have tabled proposals for a new community hospital in Aviemore earmarked for a plot within Cairngorm Technology Park.
Plans lodged with Highland Council call for the hospital to incorporate an on-site health centre, allowing existing inpatient services, community health and ambulance services to be brought under one roof.
Drawn up by Oberlanders and Rural Design the plans call for creation of a therapy garden alongside, amenity space and X-ray facilities.
Georgia Haire, NHS Highland’s project director for the Badenoch and Strathspey redesign, said: “This is another exciting step. The submission of the planning application signals that we are at an advanced stage in the design of the new facility and we hope to have a positive conclusion to the application process, which is expected to take 16 weeks.”
A business case for the hospital will be developed early next year with construction following subject to its approval.
