Renfrewshire Council, working in tandem with BAE Systems, is progressing plans to deliver a £10m housing development by Anderson Bell Christie together with a new Holmes Miller designed primary school.Formed around a central park Dargavel Village Primary will take the form of an L-shaped building with a gym and dining hall situated on the shorter arm with classrooms positioned centrally. It will be joined by 80 new build homes scheduled to begin construction in the spring.
These will comprise a mix of flats, semi-detached properties and terraced housing within the former Royal ordnance Factory at Bishopton and form part of a commitment from Renfrewshire Council to deliver 1,000 affordable homes in the five years to 2021.
The homes will be made available for social rent by mid-2019, joining 950 occupied homes at the site. Work to build a new junction off the M8 motorway to facilitate further development is expected shortly thereafter in early 2020.
