UWS commence fit-out at £110m Hamilton campus

Delivered by South Lanarkshire Council and Mosaic Architecture the out of town campus draws together laboratories, classrooms and social spaces as well as sports facilities and a student union.
Furniture specialists Alpha Scotland have joined this team, tasked with furnishing the library, learning and break out spaces within this campus, aiming to give students a helping hand in their studies by creating a more inspiring learning environment.
Graham Black, UWS project director added: “Our new Lanarkshire Campus gives us the opportunity to offer fresh, contemporary interiors and products that are conducive to thinking, study and the exchange of information and ideas.”
Practical completion of the new campus is expected by August 2018.

The university is relocating from its existing town centre premises on Almada Street

"EcoCampus" - located in an out-of-town business park with limited public transport.

Pretty sure the interiors are by haa Design, not Mosaic

I've said so on here, and I'll say it again, this is the worst thing to happen to Lanarkshire for years. Hamilton is struggling in the same way most satellite towns are, but it has the raw ingredients for a renaissance down the line with decent urban planning. The university was a big part of that future. Now the 5000 or so students, and all of the staff, will drive up the expressway and likely never set foot in town. What a dreary experience and totally counter productive in terms of economic development and sustainability. I hate this country sometimes.

What an awful decision to move a university from the edge of a town with two trains stations, to an out of town business park. I bet the local Councillors were touting this as a great move for some obscure place in Lanarkshire. Stand back and watch the centre of Hamilton take its last breaths, but never fear folks the old town hotel (b listed) is set for demolition. All will be well with the regeneration of the town once the new beefeaters arrives. death by a thousand cuts.

Students generate a lot to the local economy. Putting them out on a limb is not a good decision for any town especiallly when we are trying to encourage use of public transport. A business park is not exactly a desired location for a University. Got a choice of 2 universities which one will I choose... both equal ..mmm business park or central town location ?
