March 29 2018
Midlothian Council has partnered with Austin-Smith:Lord Architects to invite views on the planned transformation of the historic venue.‘A Town Hall for All’ will engage 2,500 school pupils in the town, inviting them to explore potential re-uses after the town hall was identified as a priority project in the Penicuik Heritage Regeneration project.
Rod Lugg of Midlothian Council commented: “It is hoped that the best proposals from young Penicuikers can help inform exciting future plans for the Town Hall. We’re progressing funding applications to help adapt the Town Hall to meet the local community’s contemporary and future needs. We want this project to ultimately engage everyone in the area to participate in developing ideas for the Town Hall.”
Led by architects and planner Graham Ross, who grew up in Penicuik, the programme will kick-off with an open invitation for anyone with an interest in Penicuik to pop into the town hall on 4 April between 10:00 and 17:00.
