Edinburgh University Rowing Centre under starter’s orders
March 13 2018
Edinburgh University has won planning consent from North Lanarkshire Council to erect a purpose-built rowing centre at Strathclyde Country Park.Incorporating an equipment store and on-site facilities the design was judged to be acceptable for the site without negatively impacting the character of the park.
Operated by the university boat club the facility has been commissioned to promote the sport within the university and bolster competitiveness of the existing team, presently restricted by the inadequacy of its current operations.
Conceived by Loader Monteith, in partnership with Bergmark Architects, Harley Haddow and David Adamson Group, the project is scheduled to move on-site after the European Championships this August.
Project architect Matt Loader is a former captain of Edinburgh University Boat Club and has amassed a quarter century of experience within the sport.
