Latest phase of Edinburgh’s Muirhouse transformation delivered
March 12 2018
Springfield Properties have showcased a £23m development of 49 affordable homes in Edinburgh’s Muirhouse district, delivered in partnership with Dunedin Canmore and Muirhouse Housing Association.Part of the wider delivery of 202 homes close to the local shopping centre, underway since 2012, the scheme offers a mix of flats and terraces built to high standards of energy efficiency.
The new estate plugs into more established areas through a network of paths and roads.
Tom Leggeat, Springfield’s partnership director, commented: “Muirhouse is one of our larger affordable developments and through a successful placemaking programme we are very pleased to deliver 202 homes, rejuvenating a derelict site into a thriving community in the process.
“Together, with Dunedin Canmore and Muirhouse Housing Association, we’ve transformed the former BT Training Centre into a community development incorporating open spaces, scenic views and energy efficient houses."
The plans follow proposals for a new civic hub serving residents of Pennywell and Muirhouse.

Clearly the price tag is an error. £23m was probably the original costing for the whole 202 home scheme.
