Inverness Campus expands with £4.5m life sciences facility

Inverness Campus is set for further growth with the appointment of Robertson Construction by Highlands and Islands Enterprise to deliver a £4.5m life sciences building.Solasta House has been designed by Threesixty Architecture to offer 2,460sq/m of flexible laboratory and office space for businesses in the city.
Following on from completion of Aurora House, which is expected to be fully let by the summer, the new addition seeks to establish its own identity with stone walls enclosing surface parking and highlighting key elements of the façade.
In a concept statement the architects observed: “The concept works with a preferred ‘linear block’ for the office environment. A second smaller block intersects the principle space which contains the feature stair, entrance lobby with associated core facilities to the west. The smaller block then manifests itself on the eastern side to offer a principle zone which could contain meeting rooms while offering views of the campus through the trees.”
Formed predominantly from timber and glass the scheme will draw inspiration from earlier phases of work on the 215-acre campus.
