Borders Gateway commercial hub planned for Tweedbank
February 15 2018
New Land Assets have opened consultations on the creation of a roadside services and retail park on the outskirts of Tweedbank; Including a BP filling station and M&S food store off Melrose Roundabout.Borders Gateway is envisaged to include a mix of uses including a hotel, café, restaurant and bar, improving connections from the busy A6091 to the recently reopened Borders Railway terminus, located just 400 yards away.
In a statement NLA wrote: “It is hoped that a flexible and pro-active approach will be adopted by the council, seeking to maximise opportunities for job creation and amenities for businesses, tourists and indigenous populations. This will include a new entrance to the site and landscaping to create clear visibility splays, opening up the site to the roundabout.”
A public consultation will be held in Tweedbank Community Centre on 14 March between 14:00 and 20:00.
