Glasgow school repurposed as homes for the elderly
February 9 2018
Loretto Housing Association has begun work to transform an historic Glasgow school dating from 1931 into much needed new housing for older tenants, saving the structure from further decay after it was abandoned.£4.1m has been allocated to the transformation of Greenview School in the Parkhouse district of the city, with McTaggarts Construction overseeing the build.
Hypostyle Architects have been commissioned to redevelop the B-listed school to provide 19 homes for social rent together with conversion of an adjoining janitor’s house to one additional dwelling and construction of eight new build cottage flats.
The plan of works calls for the demolition of a 1960’s assembly hall to accommodate these additions.
Work is expected to complete on the wheelchair accessible properties in April of next year.
