Glasgow’s Central Quay earmarked for 400 rental properties
February 8 2018
Build to rent developer Platform_’s expansion has seen it acquire a waterfront site at Glasgow’s Central Quay from harbert Management Corporation and XLB Property, who achieved planning permission for their masterplan last month. Its new owners plan to transform two-acres of brownfield land through provision of 400 rental properties built around a landscaped courtyard complete with a concierge, residents lounge and gym.
Drafted by Keppie Design the plans form a key plank of the wider masterplan which also calls for 300,000sq/ft of offices and a 150-room hotel to be built.
Jean-Marc Vandevivere, CEO of PLATFORM_, said: “Being our first site in Scotland and second new-build project, the Glasgow acquisition is a major milestone for the business, as we look to deliver high quality, accessibly-priced private rented housing in key locations across the country.”
Glasgow’s built to rent sector has taken off in recent months with both Get Living and Moda submitting plans for substantial new build projects.

The images shown are from the news article about the masterplan getting planning permission.
Masterplans are not the design of the individual buildings.
The visuals show a possible building on the masterplan site, yet to be designed and are therefore outlines.
