Page\Park lead £12m overhaul of Birmingham’s Symphony Hall
January 8 2018
Page\Park have shown themselves to be in tune with the aspirations of Birmingham’s Symphony Hall after the practice were appointed as multi-disciplinary design team to lead a £12m foyer extension project by Town Hall Symphony Hall.Designed to open the institution out to its host city the scheme will take full advantage of a regenerated Centenary Square by bringing supporting services up to the same standard as its main auditorium. The permeable space will be harnessed for new artistic ventures in a dedicated front door space to better engage with audiences.
David Page commented: “Birmingham’s Centenary Square is being transformed into a remarkable heart of the city with its assembly of important civic cultural buildings. The new Symphony Hall frontage will provide a multi-levelled balcony to that new setting and Page \ Park are delighted to be able to shape that contribution.”
Birmingham is in the process of overhauling Centenary Square, its primary public space, in advance of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
