Groundworks commence at Halo Kilmarnock
December 6 2017
Site infrastructure and groundworks have begun for the £25m first phase of Kilmarnock’s Halo project, which aims to transform a former Diageo bottling plant.Halo is a UK-wide regeneration initiative and is intended to plug into the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ via improved road and rail links to harness the regeneration potential borne from the digital revolution.
In a statement TGP landscape architects wrote: “The Halo will feature a new urban park, surrounded by entrepreneurial businesses in computer technology, cyber research, engineering, fashion, financial services and light manufacturing. TGP will be taking forward public realm proposals at the street and building frontage, as well as design proposals for the Urban Park.”
Building work is set to commence on the Keppie designed scheme by spring 2018, with a view to completing phase one works in summer 2019.
A mix of commercial, educational, cultural, leisure and lifestyle uses are envisaged for the new quarter
