Ayr Academy goes to the top of the class
August 23 2017
South Ayrshire Council has ushered in the first pupils to a brand new Ayr Academy, a £25m new build on the town’s Craigie Estate designed to bring South Ayrshire’s oldest school into the 21st century.Hosting up to 1,000 pupils the new facility includes two learning plazas, a multi-purpose hall, twin gyms, a fitness suite and sports pitches delivered by Kier Construction in partnership with SWHub and BDP.
Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Lifelong Learning, said: “Based in the Craigie Campus, the new school will forge close links with the University of the West of Scotland and Ayrshire College, with young people being coached and encouraged to go on to positive destinations when they leave.”
Ayr Academy will double as a community hub offering space for community events, sports and other functions.
