Saltcoats sheltered housing breaks ground
August 8 2017
An official ground-breaking ceremony has taken place in Saltcoats to mark the commencement of work to build a new sheltered housing complex at Canal Street, comprising 36 new homes. This has seen existing substandard accommodation swept aside to allow creation of a range of one and two-bedroom properties in addition to a communal lounge, garden and community centre.
An on-site resident’s hub will offer a range of recreational activities including coffee mornings, lunch clubs and games.
The project forms part of an £11m investment in sheltered housing across Saltcoats, Stevenston and Ardrossan by the council.
Completion of the build, designed by North Ayrshire Council, is anticipated by summer 2018.
