July 14 2017
A sod cutting ceremong has marked a construction start on St Ninian’s Primary School, Gourock, a £9.2m learning facility being delivered by CCG, Holmes Miller and Morgan Sindall on behalf of Inverclyde Council based on the design principles laid out at St Patrick's Primary.Costed at £9.2m the school will feature 13 classrooms, a gym, dining hall, music room and library allowing the outmoded existing school to be demolished upon completion.
Explaining their design the architects wrote: “High quality facing brick is proposed to articulate the elevations and define the teaching accommodation as well as create a textured appearance.
“A recessed entrance provides shelter to visitors on arrival, and announces the entry point for both visitors and the community. Fin walls above the entrance provide shading to the full wall of glazing to the staff room as well as adding interest.”
The new school is expected to be fully complete by summer 2018.
