Cumbernauld Community Campus hits the ground
A £34.5m community campus in Cumbernauld is to progress after an agreement was struck by North Lanarkshire Council and Hub South West to press ahead with a new school, theatre and arts venue on the site of the present Cumbernauld High School.

Housing up to 950 students the school will cater to pupils formerly served by Cumbernauld and Abronhill High Schools and will also boast a 400-seat auditorium, box office and digital arts room as well as performance and event spaces.

Cllr Frank McNally, North Lanarkshire Council’s convener of education, said: “The new Cumbernauld Academy and Theatre campus will become a valued asset for the area. It demonstrates our commitment to giving our young people the best possible start as well as providing excellent facilities for the wider community.”

The new campus will be delivered by Morrison Construction to designs by Norr with completion expected by 2020.

Cumbernauld has obviously worked hard here to retain its architectural reputation.
