RIBA North architecture centre opens its doors
June 15 2017
The Royal Institute of British Architects are to open a new architecture centre on the Liverpool waterfront this weekend as a hub for exhibitions, talks and tours.RIBA North has been designed by Broadway Malyan to provide gallery and exhibition space, at the heart of which is a permanent interactive 3D model of Liverpool which will double as an aid for developers, architects and planners to inform public consultations and better understand future development.
A programme of temporary exhibitions is also planned, kicking off with a collection of architecture drawings, photographs and prints, dating from the late 15th century to present day – all drawn from RIBA’s own vault.
RIBA president Jane Duncan said: “At RIBA North, we have a building with museum conditions which will offer a magnificent opportunity to view RIBA’s world-renowned historic collections showing hundreds of years of the UK’s extraordinary architectural history.”
RIBA North opens to the public on 17 June.

I don't begrudge Liverpool the building.
1 and 2 are quite correct though. There is nothing United about these Kingdoms anymore.

Agreed. The division ,hatred and separation that has been created in Scotland is unforgivable. Alex and Nicola have a lot to answer for.

I'm not interested in aligning this short sighted and inconsiderate branding with the current political climate. It is simply not good enough RIBA, poor show indeed.

My comment has nothing whatsoever to do with the current political climate and everything to do with the fact that Liverpool is not considered 'north' to a huge swathe of the country. I have no issue with a RIBA centre being in Liverpool. Just call it RIBA Liverpool!
