Celtic Park hotel & museum proposal makes planning

Occupying 2.2 hectares of land to the south of London Road in the Clyde Gateway regeneration area the project will be oriented through 45 degrees from the corner of the site to the stadiums main entrance in order to allow pedestrian access and through views.
In a statement the architects said: “Our proposal seeks to offer a bold and contemporary design with an ordered and rational approach to the elevations. The scheme sits on the site of the existing shop and ticket office, which will both be integrated within the new design.
“The development also offers an opportunity for a museum for the Football Club as part of the overall design for a hotel with approximately 175-200 bedrooms incorporated.”
Rising to five storeys the sloped profile building is intended to help knit the stadium into the surrounding neighbourhood.

If you're getting the land for buttons you think you'd put some money into the design, or are they using GCC architects too?

If this is built anything like the visuals it will look absolutely Horrendous. Only saving grace is its and in principle application, still time to get it sorted.

Campbell, the use of the building isn't particularly relevant, the design however, is.

The design although exiting isn't going to be an architectural classical building - it's not beautiful and dosn't belong to Celtic stadium. It sits apart in design and even the colour scheme is not commendable (it should be white-ish with green windows not black).
It's jarring, even a block, although boring can be made interesting using diffent materials and would sit better.
I feel it should be integrated into the new stadium front whenever that's completed.
I'm concerned about this because I love my Club and only want the best for us. I know the question of design is individual and a matter of taste, but really was there not a couple of other proposals for the board to choose from? Buildings last for centuaries - will this one look oddly old fashioed after 30 years? I'm afraid so.

Boaby Wan, you do realise that not only were GCC cleared of any wrongdoing, it actually turned out that they overcharged Celtic for the land?

At least it's not a box but I hate the grey exterior. Should benefit the local economy. Surprised that neither of the old firm teams have not capitalised on their fame in this way before now. Great for fans from outwith Glasgow and for the Glasgow economy.

Looks like a cracking start to improving the wasteland expanse Celtic have moated their stadium with, but i hope they merely consider this a start because one building will barely make a dent
