Here + Now have followed up their pop-up gallery in a disused Edinburgh railway tunnel with plans for a community garden, summer house and artists shelter at Madelvic House in the Granton Park Avenue area of the city.Granton Hub is being developed by the community interest company in partnership with the EDI Group to provide space for a range of creative groups and gardening on what is currently brownfield land.
This will include a community garden, walking routes and a café with a wildflower market providing facilities for the sale of flowers grown on-site together with space for workshops and events.
Outlining the vision Here + Now wrote: “The community group aims to create a hub and a local venue which plays host to a range of projects with an emphasis on creative and greenspace activities.
“Granton:hub is the umbrella to a number of individual partner project and organisations, and HERE+NOW have been appointed to masterplan and facilitate the co-design and delivery of the external area.”
Reclaimed shipping containers have been requisitioned for storage and a repurposed bus has been identified to provide a ready-made gathering space and workshop.
