April 20 2017
City Legacy have filed a detailed planning application for phase 2 work at Glasgow’s Athletes Village to build an additional 125 homes at the Dalmarnock site.Stewart Stevenson Architects have been commissioned to design the terraced homes, which will include a mix of two and three bedroom properties, with work expected to get underway later in the year assuming planning permission is forthcoming.
Calum Murray, managing director of CCG Homes and director of City Legacy, said: “The interest in The Village before, during and after the Commonwealth games has been overwhelming and that’s why we’ve taken to decision to build more homes on the site.
“It’s a great location and the quality of homes is excellent – the multiple awards that we have secured over the past two years are testament to that. Hundreds of families now call The Village their home and with this new planning application for a further 125 homes, we hope to give many more families this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The original Athlete’s Village was converted to 700 homes, including 400 properties for social rent, following the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Recent work at the village has seen a new pedestrian footbridge installed across the River Clyde to offer direct access to Cuningar Woodland Park.
