Inverurie hotel expansion scaled back amidst economic uncertainty
February 15 2017
WCP Architects on behalf of Monument Leisure have brought forward plans to extend and convert the B-listed Pittodrie House Hotel, near Inverurie, to offer additional holiday let accommodation and a spa.Self-catering accommodation is proposed to be housed within a converted farm and steadings within the estate through the upgrade and extension of cottages and vacant steadings. A surplus squash court will also make way for a new spa facility.
In a statement the architects observed: “Critical to the re-development of various buildings on the estate was that they take full advantage of the outstanding views and sun-path whilst providing an adaptable range of accommodation. In doing so, financially the redevelopment of the buildings has to be viable, particularly with the uncertainties of the local economy and hotel business generally.”
An earlier 2014 application for an orangery, hall and banqueting additions to the main building with a bedroom and spa extension to the north and west which are on hold pending an improvement to the local economy.

These projects should have a design architect on board, not some commercial glorified shed builders.
