Hoskins Architects to oversee £10m Perth Museum overhaul

Perth and Kinross Council has appointed Hoskins Architects to lead design work on a £10m overhaul of Perth Museum & Art Gallery, refurbishing current facilities and creating a new collection store.Centrepiece of Perth’s UK City of Culture 2021 bid the project aims to attract greater numbers of tourists to the city by modernising the current museum, improving access and carving out more display space, enabling it to attract more touring exhibitions.
Hoskins project director Chris Coleman-Smith, said: “The redevelopment of Perth Museum and Art Gallery and new collection storage building gives an opportunity to increase access to the collection, address issues within the existing building, and
significantly transform the visitor experience..”
BAM Construction have been tasked with delivering the museum transformation with Ogilvie called upon to oversee a separate £3m collection store capable of housing 450,000 items which are currently housed in the museum basement.
