Hilltown flats plan wins unanimous consent
January 18 2017
Proposals by Hillcrest Housing Association and Dundee City Council to build 163 homes at Dundee’s Hilltown have won the backing of councilors, clearing the way for a start to be made at the urban regeneration scheme.Plans brought forward by Collective Architecture and Robertson Partnership Homes call for infill blocks of up to six storeys to be erected on a 3.5 hectare site, finished in a variety of buff and sand brick with grey cladding panels to reflect the eclectic environment of the neighbourhood.
Delivering a mix of apartment blocks and terraced houses the approved scheme will seek to address a shortfall of affordable homes in the city and is centred upon a new pedestrian thoroughfare connecting Harcourt to Hill Street.
In giving the plans their unanimous approval councilors concluded that there were ‘no material considerations that would justify refusal of planning permission.’
City Design Co-operative have been appointed to oversee a landscaping strategy for the scheme.
