New look Ayr Academy takes shape

South Ayrshire Council’s £25m Ayr Academy project is starting to take shape ahead of its anticipated opening this August, providing capacity for 1,000 pupils as well as community sport facilities.Situated on the Craigie Estate the build will include sports pitches, a multi-use hall, two gyms and a dance studio and is being delivered in partnership with SWHub and built by Kier Construction.
Councillor Margaret Toner, South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Lifelong learning, commented: “Our focus on partnership working will see closer ties developed between the school, Ayrshire College and the University of the West of Scotland – something that will strengthen the education sector and provide more opportunities for young people.
“The project forms part of our wider investment in our school’s portfolio, with a number of major projects due to be completed across South Ayrshire in the coming year.”
Ayr Academy has been designed by BDP.
