Nitshill estate regeneration to deliver 180 homes
November 28 2016
Sanctuary Scotland have prepared plans for the construction of 180 homes at the former Craigbank housing estate in Nitshill, Glasgow, to be delivered by CCG and Mast Architects.Comprising a mix of affordable and private accommodation the scheme will comprise a mix of accommodation ranging from one bed flats through to four bedroom houses.
Ten of the affordable properties are to be delivered under a pilot scheme designed to test different house types and construction approaches in order to inform delivery of subsequent housing.
In their design statement the architects observed: “The development uses a mainly brick façade with elements of render therefore, creative detailing has been utilised to create a dynamic and modern aesthetic which animates the façades.
“This is achieved through the use of header brick coursing to combine elements of the facade such as windows and doors and this is coupled with areas of corbelled brick detailing in a contrasting brick to further unify elements and lead your eye around the façade. The same brick detailing is used on all block types throughout the development which creates a unifying aesthetic.”
The scheme supercedes an earlier application for 143 affordable homes on the same site.
