Aberdeen students shop around for new accommodation
November 21 2016
Plans drawn up by Alan G. W. Forbes have been submitted for the alteration and extension of an existing retail building on Aberdeen’s Lord Street to form 31 student flats. This will see the existing structure retained and extended whilst minimising impact on neighbouring homes, re-using as much of the existing building as possible.
In a design statement the architects observed: “The existing external walls are to be retained, allowing the existing coursed granite elevational treatment to be retained. Second floor accommodation is to be formed by re-profiling the existing north and south gables to accommodate a new pitched slate roof.
Clad in zinc sheets, render and retained course granite and a mature tree to the south elevation will be retained ‘if possible’.

Mmmmm. I'm trying to find the words to convey my thoughts on this design. Nope. There aren't any.

Jeezo, either learn what GI means or stump up for a decent visualiser. I had to check if the building was as grim as the render. Thankfully not. And it's Loch Street, not Lord Street. https://goo.gl/maps/2c1YUmtDdHR2
