Inverness mall revamp to enhance leisure offer
September 21 2016
Pod Architects have tabled plans to overhaul Inverness’s Eastgate Mall and Falcon Square to accommodate five new restaurants and cafes within the shopping mall – including one rooftop venue. The scheme will see the current Falcon Square façade remodelled with existing retail relocated to allow four leisure units to be inserted with floor to ceiling glazing alongside insertion of a new entrance canopy.
In a statement POD Architects wrote: “The façade extension extends outward onto Falcon Square from the existing Eastgate Shopping Centre façade. The proposed façade incorporates large glazed panels in order to provide an updated aesthetic for the shopfronts as well as natural stone panels which reflect the materiality of the Eastgate Shopping Centre.
“Sightlines across Falcon Square to the main entrance have been maintained. In addition to this, views into the units and out onto Falcon Square allow for an active frontage to be created.”
The project, which supercedes earlier plans to create a cinema, is expected to complete by next summer.
