Levenmouth Academy welcomes first pupils
August 17 2016
The £44m Levenmouth Academy has welcomed its first pupils following handover of the 1,800 capacity school by Hub East Central Scotland to Fife Council.Designed by AHR in tandem with a new building for Fife College the enlarged school will take pupils from the former Buckhaven and Kirkland High School’s whilst seeking to bolster connections between secondary and further education.
Gary Bushnell, chief executive of Hub East Central Scotland, said: “Our team worked closely with Fife Council to deliver a high quality building that meets the long term needs of the community. The construction project delivered significant additional local benefits with almost half of the workforce locally employed as well as the creation of 25 work placements and 22 apprenticeships.”
It is hoped the new school will help regenerate the Levenmouth area.
