Dunfermline Waterski Centre opens up
July 18 2016
Taylor Architecture Practice has unveiled a £105k refurbishment and extension of the National Waterski Centre at Townhill Loch, Dunfermline, on behalf of Sport Scotland.Designed to enhance the centres relationship with the water the extension takes the form of a triangulated pitched roof extending from the existing centre and rising to a peak by the lochside.
Externally stained black Siberian Larch rainscreen cladding is used to tie-in visually with the existing building.
In a statement the practice said: “The internal linings follow this roof shape and a triangular rooflight reinforces the geometrical theme and also brings some direct sunlight into the north facing extension.
“With glazing around all three sides this is now a bright and expansive space.”
This work also saw a dividing wall knocked through to allow uninterrupted views through between new and old.
