Community hall set to revitalise Roystonhill’s Spire Park
Spireview Housing Association, Mast Architects and MB landscape architects have put forward plans to create a new community hub behind the retained façade of the former Rosemount School at Roystonhill, Glasgow.

Offering a range of meeting rooms, office space the 565sq/m project aims to tie in with the A-listed Royston Spire through improvements to Spire Park, where high maintenance costs have led to it falling into disrepair.

Finished in cream Ivanhoe brickwork, re-used sandstone, green and anthracite zinc the new build manages to squeeze a double height volume behind the single storey façade through use of a cranked roof profile.

Outlining their design Mast wrote: “The retention of the Roystonhill elevation has meant that there is a fantastically interesting roofscape and articulated transition between the double gable and flat roof of the front portion of the building to the new portal frame to the rear.”
The footprint of the former Roystonhill Church will be relandscaped under the plans
