McAslan & Partners secure consent for Millbank Tower overhaul
April 14 2016
John McAslan & Partners have obtained consent for refurbishment of the Grade II listed Millbank Tower to form 207 flats as well as a 150 bedroom hotel, gardens and a new cultural facility within the podium.John McAslan, chairman of John McAslan + Partners remarked: “Our proposals will secure the long term future of this remarkable 20th-century building and we are delighted that Westminster Council has granted planning permission and listed building consent for its conversion to residential use.”
The project has stoked some controversy with English Heritage warning that work to the 32 storey tower would see it shorn of its distinctive sixties look.
Part of this work will see a two storey rooftop extension built to provide room for a sky bar with a separate single storey extension planned for a smaller neighbouring tower.
