The University of Edinburgh is to fire up an £11m combined heat and power centre at its Easter Bush campus in a bid to lower emissions and bills.Scheduled to begin operation by spring 2017 the facility will generate electricity for use by the Roslin Institute and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
Dave Gorman, director of social responsibility and sustainability at the university, said: “The University has been a leader in low carbon energy, in large part because of the dedication and expertise of our Estates staff. With the added support of our Easter Bush colleagues, this is another important milestone towards low-carbon, cost-effective energy for the University.”
Procurement for the new energy centre is now underway.
