Quartet of Edinburgh School expansions unveiled
November 23 2015
City of Edinburgh Council has unveiled a quartet of school expansions in an effort to keep pace with a burgeoning school age population.Increased demands on the schools estate has prompted authorities to file plans for extensions to Cramond, East Craigs, Towerbank and Sciennes with the former two receiving new gym halls to free up dining space and the latter two benefitting from extensions to their existing dining halls.
Councillor Paul Godzik, education convener for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Parents at the four schools will be pleased to see the designs for the new accommodation and hear that planning applications have now been submitted.”
Capacity improvements have been necessitated by a Scottish government commitment to offer free school meals to all pupils in Primaries one through three.
the new extensions are the latest in a raft of school improvements across the city.
