Napier puts Sighthill plans before Edinburgh Council
February 27 2008
Napier University has submitted a detailed planning application to the City of Edinburgh Council for the redevelopment of its Sighthill Campus, designed by architects RMJM.The university is looking for approval for the plans as part of its £100million estate strategy, and it is hoped that the development will not only bring jobs but also contribute to the wider regeneration of the area.
Professor Joan Stringer, Principal and Vice Chancellor of Napier University, said: “The redevelopment of the Sighthill Campus is central to our ambitious estate strategy and our application for detailed planning permission is a major step towards making out plans a reality. Our investment in the Sighthill Campus will provide students and staff with hi-tech, well designed facilities fit for a twenty-first century university and will create a landmark for the area.”
Work is due to begin on site this Spring, with the campus due to re-open for the start of the 2010/11 academic year.
