Skye Gaelic College building officially opened
October 21 2015
Sabhal Mor Ostaig Gaelic College has officially opened a £4.5m administration and education facility at Kilbeg on the Isle of Skye, designed in partnership by Holmes Miller and Rural Design. The Ian Noble Centre adopts a double pitched form punctured by window openings and an angled gable entrance.
Project director Douglas Jack said: “The partnership brought together the large scale education experience of Holmes Miller and the local design presence of Rural Design to create a truly inspiring piece of campus architecture which sits confidently into its island setting. The collaboration was inspired by the timely appearance of Rural Design’s Alan Dickson on Channel 4’s Grand Designs programme just at the time of the public tender.”

Thanks for comments - glazed panels were part of the fire strategy to limit smoke movement up the stairwell .

As a matter of interest, I'd be interested to learn what the glazed panels hanging around the stairwell are for?
