August 21 2015
Macdonald Rusacks Hotel has been given the go-ahead to build a 44 room extension in St Andrews complete with a rooftop bar and restaurant offering panoramic views of the Old Course.Designed by WCP Architects using traditional materials the extension will include a 1,050sq/ft roof terrace.
Macdonald Hotels deputy chairman Gordon Fraser, observed: “We’ve owned the Macdonald Rusacks since 2001 and are especially conscious of being custodians of one of golf’s most famous locations so will be developing the site with the utmost sensitivity.
“Indeed, the balconies at the Macdonald Rusacks have often been described as having ‘the best views in world golf’ and our design will carefully blend the iconic location with the most luxuriously-appointed accommodation.”
Construction work is expected to begin in earnest next year.

An extension, yes, but not this one.
Traditional materials, by that they mean stone, okay but as handled here it lacks imagination.
I thinks first year students could do better!
