Muirhouse regeneration proceeds with latest wave of housing completions
August 7 2015
Muirhouse Housing Association has taken possession of a further 64 homes in the final phase of its redevelopment of the former BT training ground in Edinburgh.Originally designed by Yeoman McAlister Architects the design and build scheme was subsequently taken up by Springfield Properties the scheme incorporates a range of flats, four in a blocks and family homes for both social and mid-market rent.
Intended to deliver economies of scale and time by repetition of design, construction and programming the scheme also took advantage of Springfield’s supply chain to deliver savings on materials and sub-contracts.
Sustainability measures adopted on-site include an electric air source heat pump and solar panels, connected to the landlord supply to minimise running costs.
The scheme follows on from the earlier delivery of 58 homes in 2014.
