Work gets underway at £30m Aberdeen Art Gallery overhaul

Contractor McLaughlin and Harvey has moved on-site of a £30m overhaul of Aberdeen Art Gallery to create new educational facilities, performance space and galleries as well as a refurbishment of the Memorial Hall.Drawn up by Hoskins Architects this entails creation of a new rooftop extension by removal of existing pitched roofs and skylights together with a new build extension to the rear.
Michael Kieran, director, McLaughlin and Harvey, said: “We look forward to working closely with the design team and Aberdeen City Council to restore and improve this facility. The finished building will provide the city with an Art Gallery that will rank amongst the best in its class.”
The new look gallery is set to open its doors by winter 2017.
