Ellon Academy Community Campus nears completion
July 2 2015
Construction work on a £36m Ellon Academy Community Campus is entering the final furlong in time to welcome its first intake of students on 20 August. The 1,200 capacity school will include a swimming pool and community learning facilities as well as an outreach training facility for North East Scotland College. As part of the scheme a new footbridge across the River Ythan connecting to the town centre will also be built.
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee Councillor Alison Evison said: “The finishing touches are now being put in place for the community campus in Ellon.
“I know that members of the community have watched the project take shape with great anticipation. The campus will form a most valuable part of the leisure, health and wellbeing offering in the area.”
Aberdeenshire Council’s own architecture team worked on the contract in collaboration with Keppie Design.
