King’s Stable Road public consultation held
June 18 2015
Peveril Securities, a division of Bowmer & Kirkland, have held a public consultation into their plans to erect a mixed-use development comprising flats, student rooms, hotel, retail and arts café, studios and workshops on land off King’s Stables Road, Edinburgh. This seeks to open up new views of the Castle and open up access through the site via a series of closes leading to King’s Stables Lane.
Working alongside specialist student accommodation provider Campus Development Management, architects Fletcher Joseph Associates and landscape architects HarrisonStevens the team aim to ‘enhance and regenerate’ a forgotten corner of the city.
In their statement of intent the project backers say: “Our proposals aim to establish a coherent link between the Grassmarket and the West End of Princes Street through a considered integration of the streetscape, active frontages and a diverse range of building types.
“Highly visible and established corridors will lead to more intimate courtyards and common spaces with reference to Edinburgh’s historic closes and gardens amongst an intentional high density of built form.”
A second public consultation will be held in September.
