New Waverley Premier Inn hotels top out
June 11 2015
Two new hotels at Edinburgh’s New Waverley development have topped out as work continues to deliver the first phase of the masterplan. This coincided with a public unveiling of a set of Victorian railway arches, entombed beneath beneath Jeffrey Street for 140 years, which will be brought back into use as a new retail and leisure quarter.
Artisan Real Estate Investors are also progressing a 146-apartment Adagio Aparthotel behind the retained façade of the C-listed Sailors Ark building as well as a £6.5m public square.
Lukas Nakos managing director of Artisan, said: “The building stands as a proud cornerstone for our progress on site, which is moving forward on all fronts. We are now witnessing New Waverley’s true scope and potential being delivered before us – a broad sweep of an historic part of the city linking together the two iconic destinations of Waverley Station and the Royal Mile.”
The 127-room Premier Inn and 121-room Hub by Premier Inn are scheduled for completion by early 2016. A second phase of works comprising 160,000sq/ft of office space and 148 homes is due to begin in February 2016.
